The Hunt is On!

[Author's Note: While the disturbing MMS of Mas Selamat Kastari has been distributed to all Singtel, M1 and Starhub subscribers, I do wonder at the S$1, 000 price to catch the Not-So-Evident-Limping Terrorist. You mean because of the limp, the price to catch him is the same as smoking in a non-smoking area.]

He had been planning this for years. By studying the standard of procedures, he had been timing the process for months leading to this day. In fact, the procedures had never changed since he had been captured.

The time was perfect. The sun wasn’t too strong. The family was here for a ‘visit’. He just needed to distract them. One of the guards who wasn’t that alert due to being up all night had been assigned to guard him. He had casually asked why he was so tired. The reply pleased him. The guard had been trying to make babies with his wife.

It was nearly time. The escape route was already planned. All he had to do was to change his clothes and make his way to freedom. He hated the bars and the four grey walls. They gave him depression and he found it difficult to breathe.

His wife was waiting. However, she would not be seeing him. He had given her the instructions on the change of clothes to be placed at a certain location that only both of them knew. She would also place some food rations and hide them.

Help end world hunger

He just needed a way to escape. He had investigated the places where he could climb out of without triggering the CCTV or alarm sensors. The alarms were mostly located at the exits and entrances and large windows. Satisfied that the toilet didn’t have any security, he planned his escape route by noting down the height and the size of the window. The jump was not that great as it was on the ground level.

He just had to ensure that he didn’t twist his ankle upon landing. He started to rub his hands in his excitement of the freedom in a few hours time. His next step after escaping was to plan for his bomb targets. His initial plans for other locations had been leaked and needed new places.

He wanted to make it known that he wasn’t named a leader for nothing. He just had to make sure that he won’t be caught again. The time had arrived for his visit. He was prepared to execute his plans. The guard gave him a toilet break and in 2 minutes, Kastari was on his way to freedom.

They wouldn’t be able to find him for days or months if he was careful enough. Disguises and new passports were needed. They wouldn’t let the public know that he had escaped within the next 4 hours. The hunt was on.
